Washington, DC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Lyle Overbay went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Kevin Correia cruised to his 11th win of the season, as the Pittsburgh Pirates earned an easy 10-2 victory over the Washington Nationals in the finale of a four-game series. Garrett Jones, Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker each added two RBI for the Pirates, who have split their last eight games.
In contrast, Jason Marquis (7-3) lasted just 1 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs -- six earned -- on eight hits.
Jim Johnson (5-1) gave up a run over two innings in relief to earn the victory for Baltimore, which snapped its five-game losing streak. Kevin Gregg tossed a perfect ninth to nail down his 15th save of the season.
Eric Hinkse ripped a pinch-hit two run single, while Brian McCann and Jordan Schafer added a pair of hits for the Braves.
With runners on first and second and two down in the eighth, Aaron Rowand drove a 3-2 slider into the gap in left-center. Raburn gave chase and threw himself in the direction of the sinking ball. Horizontal and fully extended, he made the catch inches from the ground to preserve the lead in thrilling fashion.
Rick Porcello (7-6) lasted seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six to earn the win.
Jose Valverde worked around a walk and a single in the ninth to earn his 20th save of the season.
Casilla was brought in to face Ordonez, who responded with the decisive single.
In the eighth, Inge's two-out, two-run triple to deep center sealed the final margin.
In the fifth, Emmanuel Burriss was hit by a pitch and Sandoval followed with a double. Burriss crossed the plate on Porcello's wild pitch and, after Huff was intentionally walked, Cody Ross flared a one-hopper toward short. The ball was misplayed by Ramon Santiago -- although Ross was credited with a hit -- and Sandoval came around to score, giving San Francisco a 3-1 advantage.
Detroit wouldn't record its second hit until the bottom of the sixth, and once again it was Boesch, this time ripping a one-out double to right. He came around to score two batters later on Miguel Cabrera's single to left.

In terms of sports wagering, the NFL is "the most popular game in town." The explanation behind that is easy.
It is called the "pointspread."
Many years ago, NFL games, as well as the more popular college games, used straight odds as a vehicle for betting. For example, if the Bears were playing the Giants, and it shaped up as a competitive contest, the Bears might be, say, a 7/5 favorite. If they were playing an also-ran, it might be 10/1. Well, there is a point where a line becomes prohibitive, as far as betting the favorite. And who would waste money betting an underdog that has virtually no chance? Such a setup did not contribute to promoting betting action.
But in modern sports betting, a "pointspread" is used.
A NFL pointspreads are exactly that, a pre-established point difference between the two sides that will, for all intents and purposes, create a handicap that evens things out, and in doing so, produces comparable wagering activity on both sides of that proposition. So in lieu of a odds figure in which to bet the team to win outright, the Bears might be a three-point favorite over the New York Giants, and a 17-point favorite over the also-ran. Now that the team that is the underdog can "get" points, there can be equal action on both sides.
In sportsbooks, this is usually done with efficiency by charging the losing bettors 10% extra - in effect, bettors are laying 11/10 on those games. So they are actually betting $110 to win $100. If they lose, they pay the "vig." If they win, they simply collect.
The establishment of the pointspread as the corner stone around which team sports like football can be wagered upon was truly what brought gridiron betting into the stratosphere for online football betting .
